How does a 3D printer make my object?
The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes used by all FDM printers. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object
What material will my object be made from?
PLA is the standard in 3D printing. It is an affordable, biodegradable material that prints with high detail. However for some applications that require high strength materials such as PETG or ABS are preferable due to increased material properties.
Is 3D printing plastic biodegradable?
Yes, PLA is biodegradable! more specifically, PLA is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable biomass, typically from fermented plant starch such as from corn, cassava, sugarcane or sugar beet pulp.
What colours are available?
We have a lot of colours in stock for our 3D printers. We update our products with our newest colours and are always willing to order a special colour in for you. Colours can range from typical black and white all the way to silky gold or rainbow filament that changes colours as it prints. There is rarely a cost difference between colours!
How long will it take for my order to be shipped?
We 3D print every order as we receive them depending on how many projects we have on the go. The average printing time for one object is 10 hours and because of this, we process most orders in 2-3 days. For larger orders, this can vary but we can do our best to accomodate tight timelines.
Are there different materials in 3D printing?
There are numerous different plastics to use in 3D printing, however most are used to get very high strength or resist chemical exposure. Our store uses PLA plastic to keep our customers costs low and quality at its highest. How can I tell my object is 3D printed?
3D printing builds your object layer by layer at a thickness of 0.05mm to 0.3mm. These layers are very thin but can still be seen if you look closely. We love the look of these layer lines as they showcase a new technology and what it is capable of.
Can I get an object designed?
Yes you can! We have years of experience designing parts in multiple CAD programs. We specialize in mechanical parts used in application.
Can I design my own object?
Yes you can! There are plenty of CAD programs that are built to be used by people with no experience modelling. Check out TinkerCAD to start designing now. Once you have your object created, send us the file and we can get you a quote to have it printed.
Can you print multiple colours?
3D printing creates an object layer by layer using a single colour filament. We are able to change this filament between layers and create different colours at different heights. PLA plastic is able to be painted very easily if you want to customize the colours even more!
What materials can you CNC?
We are capable of machining soft metals including aluminum and copper as well as wood and plastics.
What size can be produced on your CNC?
We are capable of machining objects up to 475mm x 775mm with a vetical height of 250mm.
